I’d seen Karolina and her pup, Kenzo, a few times before. Always at the same café. Same table. Same gentle way she sipped her coffee while he sat by her feet, just... content. They weren’t trying to be noticed. They just had that kind of bond you feel without needing to say much.
Something about them stuck with me. It reminded me of my own dog. The way they just get us. No effort. Just presence.
I snapped a quick photo of Kenzo and brought it back to the team.
The next day, we made her a keychain. Just a small gift.
When we gave it to her, her face lit up. Not the kind of polite smile you give when someone hands you something, but the kind that hits deep. Like she didn’t expect anyone to notice.
We talked for a bit after that. It felt like we already knew each other.
Maybe we kind of did.
