Update on U.S. Shipping, Duties & Customs

If you are outside of the United States, nothing changes, we continue to ship worldwide from Sweden as normal. Your order will be crafted and shipped with tracked delivery as usual.

For our U.S. customers, new import rules take effect:

From August 29, 2025, the U.S. has removed the $800 de minimis exemption. This means nearly all international orders, regardless of value, must now go through full customs clearance and may be subject to duties, taxes, and fees.

  • PostNord/USPS shipments are currently paused. PostNord and 9 other EU postal networks stopped deliveries to the U.S. because the new rules require all goods to have duties paid before entry into the U.S.. Due to short notice, the postal networks are not yet technically ready to meet these stricter requirements.

  • FedEx Express shipments remain available. We ship duties unpaid, meaning U.S. Customs (via FedEx) will charge you directly for any duties, taxes, or clearance fees before releasing your package.

We know this change is disruptive. Please rest assured we are working with our logistics partners to restore reliable, affordable shipping options to the U.S. as soon as possible.

U.S. Tariffs Questions

Can I still order from the U.S.?

Yes. Orders shipped with FedEx Express are shipped out promptly. However, duties and taxes are now applied to nearly all shipments and will need to be paid before your package is delivered.

What is the de minimis exemption?

It was a U.S. trade rule allowing goods under $800 per person, per day to enter duty-free with minimal customs paperwork. From Aug 29, 2025, this exemption no longer applies.

How does FedEx shipping work now?

We ship your order duties unpaid (DAP). This means FedEx will handle customs clearance on your behalf, and you’ll pay any required duties, taxes, and clearance fees directly to FedEx before they release your package.

What happens if I don’t pay FedEx’s customs charges?

If duties and taxes aren’t paid, FedEx cannot deliver your order. Your package will be held or returned to us, and shipping costs are non-refundable.

Why has PostNord/USPS shipping been paused?

PostNord (our Swedish postal partner for USPS deliveries), along with 9 other EU postal networks, has temporarily suspended shipments to the U.S.. This is because U.S. authorities now require duties and taxes to be processed before parcels enter the country. Postal networks don’t yet have systems in place to comply with this, so shipments are paused until a solution is developed.

Will I have to pay duties and taxes on my order?

Yes. Duties and taxes now apply to nearly all shipments, regardless of value. The exact amount is set by U.S. Customs, not Silvercut.

How much are the fees with FedEx?

It depends on your order and how U.S. Customs classifies it. In addition to duties and taxes, FedEx will also charge a Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF):
- Informal entry: around $2.62 per shipment
- Formal entry: 0.3464% of value, with a minimum of $32.71 and maximum of $634.62 (changing Oct 1, 2025)

When will USPS shipping resume?

PostNord and other postal networks are working on new systems to meet the U.S. requirements. We don’t have a confirmed date yet, but we are monitoring the situation closely and will re-enable postal shipping as soon as it’s possible.
